Transit Commission

The Transit Commission is the body that makes decisions regarding the transportation services, in particular KU on Wheels, JayLift, SafeRide, and SafeBus. Operational decisions made by the Transit Commission — those affecting day to day service — are considered final and are implemented as directed by Parking & Transit staff. Policy decisions are forwarded to the Provost for approval before implementation.

Members of the Transit Commission representing students, faculty, unclassified staff, and university support staff, are appointed by the Provost. Student members of the commission include representatives of AbleHawks, Daisy Hill, and the Student Senate Treasurer. If you are interested in serving on the Transit Commission, please contact University Governance at (785) 864-5169.

Meetings

The Transit Commission meets at least once per month, September through May, and special meetings may be called by the Chair or at the request of four members of the Commission. Please contact Margretta de Vries, the Transit Commission Secretary, for information about future meeting dates.

Route Hearing

The Transit Commission hosts a route hearing each year before Spring Break.
